Multitouch will drive Apple's products? whereas Microsoft focus on voice? Except Microsoft have surface?

Meh, I still don't get the whole fascination with voice. Technology is dumb. Speech is intelligent. Speech involves inference, evaluation, ambiguity, context and probabilistic reasoning (think sarcasm). All things which are generally designed *out* of technology as we like to know exactly what it's doing - designers just as much as consumers.

(Imagine the support calls if "real" speech recog was put in. "My computer just switched itself off when I spoke to it." "Well, you *do* have a slightly irked tone of voice, sir. Try restarting, and speaking with more _gusto_ and verve, sir.")

He he ... yep, but I guess the coolness of the AI behind it would be part of the challenge.
