Dave Winer : If I had one wish, it would be that everyone who reads this blog would listen to the talk I gave to the NPR people last Thursday

I enjoyed this podcast. In the discussion an audience member raised the issue of the blogosphere being a "hall of mirrors." It's seems more complicated than that in my experience. If it were a hall of mirrors then why would I who knows so little about technology be reading your blog? Because I get connected to important discussions like David Winer telling everybody to listen to this podcast is an easy answer. You, through your blog, provide a window which provides a new perspective for me.

Winer's point about how people miss what's important in an MP3 player because we're so used to thinking of them as music players is a good one. I can't afford an iPod and not very tech savvy anyway. So recently in a discussion about languages in Uganda I pointed out how useful MP3 players could be. The idea surprised folks because they are used to thinking of them as music players.

The main thing I think is important in Winer's talk is these devices should be two way devices. Certainly that part is essential to my visions of how they can be used in Uganda.
